Creating Demand for Your Speeches with Data with Jeff Butler

What is the biggest reason why people join NSA?

Answer: to get booked on stages!

However, if you ask a speaker how they can double or triple the number of gigs they do a year, most will probably shrug their shoulders or give a hand wavy answer like write another book. The answer to exponentially increasing your bookings is understanding how to create demand as a speaker.

Jeff Butler, a graduate from UC Berkeley in computer science, has collected thousands of speaking events and analyzed the data in order to figure out how to get booked more effectively and decipher what separates those who are getting booked from those who aren’t. At 25, he set out to become a corporate speaker and in his first year broke six figures because he figured out the answer to a fundamental question- how to create more demand as a speaker. Now at 30, he speaks 50-60 times a year earning mid-six figures. Jeff works closely with various other speakers at all experience levels tracking what it takes to get booked or what hurts one’s chances. In this program, he will pull back the curtain and reveal actual numbers of what successful speakers spend (including his own) and do in order to either turn speaking into a full time job, or turn a moderate speaking business into a thriving one. It all comes down to data!

Here are a few things you will learn:

  • What types of speakers get paid the most?
  • How much money does the average speaker pay in order to get booked?
  • Why digital transformation is completely disrupting bureaus and might not be the solution in the future?
  • What industries pay the most for speakers?
