Update From Our President

Mark LeBlanc delivered and then some! Thirty two individuals registered to attend our first meeting of our Hall of Fame Series.  We hosted a great dinner with Mark and the board at Altius on Mt. Washington prior to the meeting. The restaurant has an iconic view of the city particularly at night. Mark said it was the best chapter board dinner he had attended and wants to come back! He engaged with every board member on a personal level.

Did I say Mark delivered? Everyone at the meeting left with at least one solid suggestion on how to improve their business. In addition, Mark helped the chapter raise $5,000 with his gracious auction offer and oh—by the way—we had pledges for four new members! He also stayed to answer questions and talk with chapter members individually. Mark is as real a speaker and individual as they come and it was a privilege to have him visit NSA Pittsburgh. We even had ten people join us for lunch afterwards.

Our next meeting in the Hall of Fame Speaker series is on October 5 at 8am, with internationally recognized Patricia Fripp who was the first female president of NSA. The meeting is at The Hotel Indigo Oakland which is just off the Parkway East coming from the city before you get to the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. She is offering mini coaching sessions using audience volunteers, so bring the first two or three sentences of your presentation. Don’t forget to register and bring a friend. A light breakfast will be served. See you on October 5th!

This event is free for NSA Pittsburgh members, but early registration is recommended as we expect this event to sell out.
This is our inaugural presentation of “Let’s Talk It Up Pittsburgh” and what we hope will be an annual event.

Learn how certain speech openings captivate, mystify, and create an emotional bond that keeps an audience in the palm of the speaker’s hand. In every presentation, your opening remarks set the tone for your audience’s experience. Get ready for an action-packed, content-rich, interactive program with presentation after which you will understand the purpose of your opening, realize how many options are available to you, incorporate the “magic” word for audience acceptance, appreciate the number one secret of persuasive presentations, and improve even your best stories

Part two of the program is an interactive-coaching experience. Willing participants will experience Fripp’s razor-focused mini coaching of their best presentation opening.

Member Spotlight: Albert Whale
Living in the North Hills, Albert is a native of Pittsburgh. Years ago he attended an NSA chapter meeting hosting Jeffrey Hayzlett as the speaker. Jeffrey is the CEO of the C- Suite network. Recently, Albert became a member of NSA Pittsburgh and joined us to hear Mark Leblanc. Albert is a friend of Dionne Malush; they are both certified coaches with the Napoleon Hill Institute. Albert is also a founding member of the Napoleon Hill Institute, which celebrated its reorganization in New York City in April 2023.
He is a business security specialist. Through his company “IT Security Solutions,” his mission is to change Cybersecurity globally. He built the first Internet service provider in Western Pennsylvania using Linux in 1997. On 9-11, Albert decided that he would work exclusively in Cybersecurity to protect his family and our country. The FBI came knocking on his door and asked for his support to investigate the September 17 watchlist on the Internet.
Subsequently, Albert co-founded the Pittsburgh FBI InfraGard member alliance, which teaches security to the national critical infrastructure. While Albert is on a mission to change how Cybersecurity works globally, he’s also supporting an initiative to bring more Cybersecurity professionals to the United States. Currently he sees a deficit of 3 to 5 million experienced Cybersecurity professionals today.

Some of Albert’s favorite speakers include: Bob Proctor because he captures the audience’s attention and brings them an understanding they didn’t have before. He also admired George Carlin, because he could captivate an audience and humorously give them the truth, which makes it more memorable. And finally, he especially appreciates Dr. Joe Dispensa because he helps people understand the quantum field, and what it means to make a quantum shift.

Albert is a best-selling and award-winning author of “#HACKED - 10 Practical Cybersecurity Tips to Help Protect Personal or Business Information” and “#HACKED2 - Practical Guidance for Dealing with Threats to your Business and Privacy.” He is known for publishing four books in less than two years.

Albert is a service-disabled veteran of the United States Navy. While he was injured in the service, the Navy wanted to operate on him but he refused. He said “With God’s help and the belief in a better tomorrow, I healed myself.” Other meaningful moments in his life include earning his degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University, completing the first cohort of Founder Institute in Pittsburgh, and marrying his current wife Lisa.

Speaking Tip
When a speaker's tone of voice or vocal rhythms start to sound predictable, it's apparent they know what's coming next. When that happens, we don't expect any surprises so we stop paying attention. Now imagine you're a speaker who is impulsive and almost sounds surprised by what's coming out of your own mouth. Being unpredictable is dangerous, and when you're dangerous, people pay attention because they don't know what's coming next. When people give you their attention, you have them in the palm of your hand, right here, right now. And that is compelling speaking.
